Ken was traveling for a work conference the Monday after General Conference so we didn't have a chance to play Conference Jeopardy until last night. It turns out it was perfect timing because Rose's volleyball practice on Monday nights cuts our FHE short and she didn't end up having it this week. As it was we stayed up playing until 9:30 p.m. But, it was so worth it!
I was so stressed all afternoon because our builder had informed us that instead of moving up the closing date on our home they decided to move it back a week. Which likely means we will be having our baby, coming home from the hospital the day we close on our house, and then only have two days to move and clean our rental. Obviously we had a pretty intense conversation with our builder, so they may move it again.
Ken and I were both super stressed, but we had Family Home Evening like we normally do (as if our kids would let us take a week off:-) and it totally melted away all the worries. Spending time with my family makes me so happy! Re-capping a lot of the Conference talks and thinking about what our prophet and leaders have counseled us to do also helped me realize that while in the short-term our situation is less than ideal, in the scheme of things we are really so blessed!
One of my favorite quotes from General Conference was given by Sister Linda S. Reeves: "The blessings of daily scripture study and prayer and weekly family home evening are the very practices that help take away stress, give direction to our lives, and add protection to our homes." What a testimony this was to us as we put that into practice.
Anyway, this year Lola and Papa were with us for General Conference and for Conference Jeopardy. It was fun playing with them. I took really bad pictures with my phone throughout and of course never got one of me. I'll just re-cap with Darin won for the first time EVER!!! He was pretty happy about it! Ginger was 2nd, she got a little bit of help for a couple but she really raked in the points by writing down valid questions that no one could answer. Like what song did we sing during the 2nd session of conference? She was shocked that Lola couldn't remember since they had sung "Choose the Right" together:) Lola was 3rd, Mom and Dad were 4th and 5th, Rose 6th, Nathan 7th, and Papa was way behind at 8th. To be fair he was traveling for Saturday's sessions, but he also put his notes on his questions which we had hung up for our game board. Plus, I don't know if my parents realized how serious my kids are about this game. Ken does because he was raking in points in the beginning and then everyone started to judge his answers really hard.
It was a great night and one of our favorite traditions! Nathan is already planning for the next one because he is normally #1, like 4 or 5 times running so to fall to 7th place stung a little bit.
