Bluebell Factory Tour

Today is our last play day of summer:( I'm way sad about that! Meet the teacher, schedule pick-ups and freshman orientation start tomorrow.

But, Today we PLAY!!! We went to Bluebell Ice Cream Factory in Brenham, TX with some friends this morning and tonight is the Pinewood Derby.

5 of my favorite ladies and their kids were able to go! Kari, Jeri, Kim, and Nanci.
Outside by the classic ice cream delivery truck.
With their paper hats!
There were 18 great kiddos
Hazel "woke-up" (meaning my kids each checked on her a million times so she woke-up:) They were super excited to put a hat one her.
As usual Hazel was her charming self and let Ginger hold her. I love that my boys even walked around showing her off to their teenage friends. She especially seems to make teenage boys melt.
We got to see how they make their ice cream. Here's some fun facts:
* It takes 60,000 cows to supply their daily milk needs
* Their machines can package 50 gallons a minute. They have 10 machines running from 7am-4pm
* They make ice cream on demand depending on how much ice cream was purchased the previous week.
* After filling the ice cream buckets they flip them upside down to create a freshness seal. Being snarky I said, it was to make sure the container looks full so people don't complain. But I was wrong.
* Top 5 ice cream flavors are: Vanilla, Cookies and Cream, chocolate, The Great Divide, and Buttered Pecan
They had a cold room we could walk through that is supposed to simulate the insides of their freezers. The air blowing into it is supposed to -20 degrees. I don't think it was quite that cold, but the kids came out and gave me chilly hugs. Nathan was proud of being in it the longest continually.
After the tour we got a free scoop of ice cream. My kids wanted extra scoops too:) whit chocolate almond was amazing!
Me and my sweet baby. Hazel is so good to come along on so many fun adventures with her older siblings. It was a good way to end the summer fun!
