Last night at midnight me and Ken realized that all of our kids have sleeping problems. Just to update you on putting Rose to bed... We've felt really good about putting her down to sleep for the past 2 weeks or so. It's be an ongoing saga, I think it is cosmic payback for her sleeping through the night from the age of 4 weeks-15 months. Then her bedtime routine turned nightmarish and she would only sleep if we laid with her but we could sneak out, and then that developed into her gagging herself and throwing up whenever she noticed we sneaked out. And since we are wimps we were totally held hostage by that. Plus the guilt factor of her life being in constant upheaval with Ginger being born and Ken's new job, we were totally wimps and just let her sleep in our bed. We were blessed with a 2 month break of this crazy cycle that begun 2 days after Ginger came home from the hospital, prayers were seriously answered. And then it started up again in January. Anyway so we got her sleeping routine under control where we would just have to read her a few books in her room and she would fall asleep within a minute after we left. Us being cocky, thought "Ahhh, we nailed it!"
And then she got sick last week, and we ended up back to square one. So, last Thursday we decided that maybe we should just move Ginger's crib into her room. Rose loves Ginger and really she just can't stand to be without someone she loves, at night, or well ever (who could blame her though). And it worked 3 nights in a row. Ginger is a fairly hard sleeper (I say this now, but she's been sleeping through the night since she was 1 1/2 weeks old so I should really knock on wood!) Ginger slept through the night and Ken would just whisper to Rose his good night after the last book and remind her that he sister is sleeping and she would even do her complaining cry that she normally did that lasted for 2 minutes. She would just silently go to sleep. After 3 nights, you know of course we think we have nailed the sleeping problems again. And then at midnight we are awakened by Ginger wanting to play and then she woke up her sister and she wanted to play too, and of course the already had a good 3 hour nap for the night, and they ended up staying awake until 2am. Which wouldn't be too much of a problem for us except the boys wake up at 6am for school. Thank goodness they get ready by themselves because the alarm buzzed for 40 minutes before Ken got up. Notice I said Ken because in the 40 minutes I never heard it.
Anyway, in the joy of most of our family being up during the middle of the night Ken checked on the boys and told me to go see them and this is what we found. Darin and Nathan were sleeping together on half of a trundle bed. As you can see we do provide them with their own beds, in fact they each have a twin size matress and they also both have a twin size trundle bed under it, so that would be 4 beds in total. I guess sometimes sharing a room isn't enough, when you are as close of brothers as these two. Or we could blame it on having a Star Wars Marathon with them, but we only watched Episode I and II, not the third.

Abby still has her problems sleeping sometimes. Her and Cass slept in the livingroom all weekend.
how funny one of these days all your kids will be able to sleep
Hang in there. It sounds like a pain to deal with but you have great kids and it'll all work itself out eventually.
J.D. and Jake love to have "sleepovers" and will often end up in one bed, on the floor, or in their tent in their room. I'm just glad they love each other. P.S. Found your blog through Jessica's--it has been fun to read.
