The Midway
The highlight of our San Diego trip was to see the Midway. We could see the aircraft carrier from our hotel room so we spent lots of time looking forward to our tour.

We did the kids audio tour. It was very well done, it had lots of first person accounts.
Nathan was a pro at the tying knots station.
This is the briefing room where they get their orders before flying on their missions.
In the Brig!

There were many flight simulators that you could pay to play. My boys weren't about to spend their own money. They were so cool that I even offered to pay for them. Darin refused because he was kind of scared of the rolls and turns. I'm such a good mom that I forced him to go on it:-) Here they are practicing.
They had video screens up above the simulator so we could watch the boys inside.
They loved it! Nathan was the pilot, he was quite tender towards Darin and only did one roll. The funny thing is that Darin LOVED it so much that he paid so that they could go again and that time they did plenty of rolls!
On top of the deck where they pretty much had the awesomest planes!

My silly girls wanted a picture with this cardboar guy.

Our hotel from the top deck of the Midway.

We went back inside and the girls played in cockpits or helicopters and planes while the boys did their 2nd flight simulator.

They complete their educational tour and filled everything out so they became honorary pilots and were awarded their wings. It was very formal:-) The guy even made them pledge.

It was an amazing day!
