Party Weekend!

The past weekend was packed with parties. Friday, during the day Rose celebrated her 2nd birthday at the park with her Best Bud James. They both turned two on Saturday! (It was sooooo hot! I was melting outside)

Then Friday night Nathan threw a going away party for a friends from church. We had 8, almost 8 years old for the party. Since it got up to 99 degrees that day we pulled out the slip n' slide, water guns, inflatable pool with slide, and the boys talked Ken into letting all of them jump on the trampoline with a sprinkler set-up to shoot them with water. Only a dad would agree to do this! I at least made him move the tramp 10 ft away from our little stone wall and a pile of bricks. Seriously can you imagine the liability. No one was injured by the way. I think Rose had more fun at this party then she did at her own. She thought she was just one of the boys. By the way Ginger got her first tooth last Saturday, she is 6 months old.
(All the monkeys)
We had pizza and banana splits. After the boys finished eating pizza and were just going to play inside we told them they should get dressed into their clothes. Here was an interesting conversation that ensued:
Boy: "Okay!" (then he starts to pull down his swimsuit)
Me: "Nooooooooo"
Ken: "Hey, no stripping at the table, get to the bathroom."
3 little boys: "What's stripping?"
Me: giving Ken a look, like what did we just get ourselves into.......
Ken: "It means taking off your clothes, now get to the bathroom."
Nathan: "Oh, like the 10,000 Stripping Warriors!"
Boy: "Gross, they fought without clothes!"
Me: "No, that's STRIPLING warriors, not stripping. With an L"
Nathan: "What?"
Ken: "The stripLLLing warriors were good, they didn't take their clothes off." "They listened to their moms, remember." (Seriously, good man to put that last one in)
Boy: "What does stripling mean?"
Me: "It means a good, strong, young man." (Ummm, I have no idea, but that's what I came up with off the top of my head, you can inform me of the real definition if you want)
Ken: "Okay, end of discussion. Go to the bathroom and get dressed."

Then Saturday, our Rosebud turned 2. We did breakfast and she opened presents. Then it was off to our last soccer game, yeah!

Then we came home picked up Lola and Papa and went to a school and had a picnic until Kiddie Acres opened. Lola had been wanting to take Rose for a long time to ride the ponies. Rose didn't ride the ponies but she had a fun time on all the rides. Ginger had fun eating her first snow cone. And I couldn't believe how my 1st baby, Darin, looked huge taking up a whole airplane. It reminded me of a picture we have of Ken riding on top of an airplane like one of these up in Park City when Nathan was 2, so that way he wouldn't be scared and would ride the plane. Except it was Darin who was overflowing the plane.

Rose crashed in the car on the way home and slept another 4 hours at home. Then the boys were off to a birthday party for one of their friends. After Rose woke up we had dinner with Lola and Papa. We had a beef roast stroganoff with Rice. I was asking the boys what I should make for Rose's birthday. Darin said, "I'm not saying this because I like rice, but I think you should make something with rice because Rose likes rice." He was right she loves rice, and so does he.

The boys got home just after Rose had opened her presents from Lola and Papa. She loves her dress up clothes! And then we had a little mini dance for about 40 minutes. Rose had so much fun! And we all learned that Ken apparently has been paying attention when we watch Dancing with Stars every Monday and Tuesday night with my parents. He is normally on his laptop in the family room with us but not watching, or so we thought. Anyway, he started flipping and doing lifts with Rose swinging her around his back, flipping her over his shoulders, and twisting her through his legs and back around, plus lot of other moves. Which was great and she loved it, but then Nathan wanted a turn, and Darin wanted a turn. Rose weighs 32 lbs, Nathan 78lbs, and Darin 90 lbs. He gave all the kids a couple turns each, but he is lucky it was Rose's birthday so he could tell the boys how he had to do their sister again. And Ginger was perfectly happy to sit on the floor in all the madness of their dancing. Although we decided we had better rescue her from some of the crazy moves.
