After experiencing 12 days of over 100 degree heat this summer we decided it was time to cool off and took the kids Ice Skating!
I seriously don't know what we would have done if we were home all summer because it was scorching hot in Texas. 
This is Darin and his friend Carson.

The hockey player is Nathan's friend Arthur. Arthur's dad is from Boston and he is all about hockey. They have been inviting us for some time to come along on a Friday evening when it is open skate.

Ken and the girls all ready to go out on the ice. I didn't attempt to ice skate because for one thing I don't even roller skate, but also I have been back pain free for 6 months so why would I want to chance that.
Ken was brave enough to take the two girls out at once. He grew up ice skating during recess and PE in Alaska, so it didn't take much for him to remember how.
Arthur's Dad came around and picked up one of the girls which made it so much easier on Ken.
This is Darin and Carson on their first lap around. They were really quite shaky.
Nathan picked it up pretty fast and was off the wall before he completed a lap. He came to see me to get a drink and catch his breath.
Ginger went around once with Arthur's dad and she was smitten. She refused to go out on the ice with her Daddy and said she would wait. So she waited and waited...
until her ice skating buddy came around. This is super huge for Ginger because her Daddy is her favorite person in the world and she still barely says hi to new people let alone
letting them hold her.

So did Ken and Rose. Doesn't she have such long legs?!? That girls has grown.

Arthur's Dad even got Ginger to talk out on the ice about 10' by herself.
Towards the end of the night everyone was playing around and skating in the middle of the rink.
It was such a fun night and one that we
definitely want to repeat!
