Rainy Days

The first 10 days in Cancun we had rain nearly everyday.  It even rained straight for 2 days, there was one crazy thunderstorm that shook all the glass in the doors.  Lighting struck at the corner of our condo complex on the beach.  These are just random pictures from our Rainy Days in Cancun.

We didn't mind the rain though.  We still played in the pool when there wasn't lightning.
The boys like to snorkel around the pool.

Even giving their sisters a ride on their back.

Ken and I don't really like swimming in the rain at least not for hours like our kids.  But we sit out under the palaplas and talk and play cards.  Actually it is pretty perfect!  Then our boys always ask us to join in.

We swam outside so much that day that all the kids all started crashing.  Nathan fell asleep before dinner.
Darin was right after dinner.
Ginger was before dinner too.  She went upstairs to get her blanket and apparently her bed called to her too much.  Rose didn't take much longer either she made it through dinner at least.  This is part of why we love beach vacations.  Everyone is so happy and entertained all day that they crash when there is the slightest lull and sleep through the night.  Ken and me weren't as smart we stayed up way too late watching White Collar:-)
Ken and I went out to dinner for our Friday night date.  We left the kids at the condo happily watching G-Force.  The girls are obsessed with Hamsters (probably because Rose's class had a hamster and we watched it over Christmas Break).  Anyway, they were laughing hysterically at the movie.

One of the days that it rained all day long was when the cleaning lady comes.  It was also Ken's busiest work days with 4 hours of conference calls.  So I took the kids to the mall across the street for lunch. No big surprise that they chose Burger King for lunch.  Their other food court options were pizza (but not like at home) and fish tacos.
We walked around the mall for awhile to kill time and give the cleaning lady more space.  I know how hard it is to clean with 4 crazy kids hanging around.  As it was we stayed downstairs playing games while she cleaned the 3 bedrooms and 2 baths upstairs.  I now know why I never can keep out home clean.  We had put everything away, threw all the trash, did all the dishes, etc. to prepare for her and it still took her 5 hours to clean our condo which is half the size of our home.
Rose really liked the dancing sculptures on display in the mall.  Nathan was a sweetie and gave her a twirl.
Fountain in the middle of the mall.
Then the kids all wanted their picture taken by dog paintings that are displayed.  There are several art installations around the mall.
Nathan and his funny expressions.
Ginger liked this cute little puppy.
Of course Rose like the one that was decked out with jewels.
This is the stained glass dome above the water fountain in the center.  Once an hour they have a light and sound show talking about the great warrior Kulkulcan (who the mall is named after).
Ginger laying down to watch the show.
More playing cards at the pool.  This time Ginger interrupted us to beg us to play go fish.  Which is her current favorite thing in the whole world!
By the second full day of rain I was getting kind of bummer out.  Just because Ken was taking the entire day off so it was sad we couldn't really get out and have fun.  We stayed inside and played lots of cards.  The girls colored, drew, and watched Ice Age 3.  I bought it for them here and they have been addicted.

Even when it is stormy it is still so pretty!

We played alot of Phase 10.  We forgot to bring a Phase 10 card set but we found out how to use 2 decks of playing cards to make it happen.

The girls take their artwork very seriously.
Rose was drawing Pokemon from cards they brought along.

After being cooped up too long the girls talked us into letting them play on the balcony.  They were so happy to get wet!

It cleared a little so we went swimming for a little bit.  But then it started lightning again.

Ken and the boys braved the rain to get their friend Obai.
They got drenched even though he is just in the building in front of us.
It was worth it though to play Settlers.
Another night of crashing on the couch.

Ginger just slept for an hour or so and then she talked us all into playing Go Fish with her.
She loves to be so sneaky, but of course we all know what she is thinking.
Rose likes to be a sneaky girl too while playing cards.
And then Rose really did crash.
Even in the rain it is just so nice to be together.  We have been having so much fun playing with our family!
