FHE @ the Pit!

Our Family Home Evenings have gotten a whole lot more fun ever since we put in the firepit.  The kids totally love when we have FHE outside.  We end up eating dinner outside too most of the time too!  That makes it like two family fun nights rolled into one!

I'm always surprised by how much the boys want to help cook dinner outside.  It's not like they are normally arguing over who gets to cook dinner with me but when it comes to who gets to start the fire Ken has tons of volunteers.  Which amazes me even more considering they have to actually put on their shoes instead of running outside barefoot.  Look closely and you'll see who wasn't on fire duty this night:)

While our foil pack dinners were cooking Ken read to us from the Friend, our standby lesson when we have nothing prepared.  Actually we are finding that doing anything at the firepit pretty much makes it special so you don't have to prepare anything in advance at least not at our house since we buy s'more supplies by the case from Sam's Club. It's so perfect for busy Monday nights!

The foil packs needed a little more heat.

So while dinner cooked we played King Elephant.  Ginger was the elephant and Nathan was Giggly-Goo.

Then Nathan moved up.

And he was dethroned by Rose.

Finally time for dinner!  Cooking over a fire is so yummy!

And of course you can't have FHE without treats and you can't have a fire without s'mores!

Mmm, look at that gooey goodness.
