This year was much more reminiscent of our Utah days. All of our previous years in Texas we have bought a tree from a local Christmas Tree lot. We like to get a BIG tree to go in our 2-story Family Room and we thought the local Christmas Tree Farm did not sell them that big.
Instead of trudging through snow to find the perfect tree we drove all around the city. Instead of drinking Hot Chocolate we ate Frosty's (it was 75 degrees outside). Kind of the same thing...
We went around to all of the usual lots where we have been able to find a 13 foot + tall Christmas Tree. After visiting 6 lots we were so bummed. Let me tell ya I really appreciated how every lot would say, you should have come earlier/later because we never have tall ones at this time. Of course except for the 4 previous years, right!
In all we drove around for 3 hours. The kids were incredibly nice and sweet in the car. Which is another reason to love Christmas Time!
We ended up finding an out of the way Christmas Tree Farm we had never heard of before. Ken called ahead and they said they had a number of trees around 15 feet tall! It is a lovely place. They drive you on a tractor to the fields of Christmas Trees.
And then we walked a full loop around because you never know if you may have just missed the PERFECT Tree
Here is the Beauty we chose!
The girls and I let our big strong guys take care of the cutting down part.
While Ken paid for the tree and tied it down the kids were entertained playing with games they have around. It really was a nice little set-up for us.
People always ask us how we get our Christmas Tree home. They are always shocked when we say we put it on top of the Suburban. See it does fit on top with just a little hanging off the front and back. And keep in mind a Suburban is 19 or 20 feet long so a 15 foot tree is pretty much the length of the main body
