July 3rd

It's our tradition to light off a bunch of fireworks for July 4th. We debated the whole week before on which day we would have a party since the 4th falls on Sunday this year. We finally decided all of 24 hours earlier that we were going to do it on July 3rd.

Turns out people down the street were having a major party that night so we moved our fireworks over to the pool. It was perfect! I think we are going to have to do it there from now on.

Here is Ken doing the pre-show for the little kiddos.
Ken got a bunch of Roman Candles for the boy to shoot off.

Even Rose and Ginger got in on the action.

We had cupcakes that had 4th of July rings on them. Ginger kept running over to the refreshment table and grabbing cupcakes only to lick off a little bit of the frosting and steal the rings.
Sparkler Time. I think this was the first time that Rose really got into the sparklers.
It was nice doing it our neighborhood pool so that way the little kids could play on the playground and still see the fireworks.
This is Ken's New Best Friend. He bought "ME" a Creme Brulee torch as a 4th of July Present. Isn't that so thoughtful:-) A friend in our ward told Ken about it before our New Year's show. Ken kind of scoffed about it but when New Year's Eve came around Ken was completely jealous. Now he has his very own!
Lola and Pap with Ginger.
Ginger, our crazy little girl was running through the parking lot barefoot to play on the playground. Then she would run back through to us. Totally not paying attention to the fact that they were lighting off fireworks there.
A bunch of pretty girls playing around.
Darin took a break from his pyro-technics
Here's a few of the other boys who had fun lighting off fireworks. This year I made sure Ken got plenty for them to light off.
Here's a little bit of what Ken did. Since it was in the parking lot I was able to pull up the Suburban for Ken and turn on my iPod so he could even have the patriotic music he always misses.
This is about half of the people who showed up. Pretty amazing for 24 hour notice, with half of our friends on vacation.
Here's the other half of the crowd. It was a really fun night. Ken and the boys had a blast lighting off the fireworks and the girls had a ton of playing with friends and watching the show.
