Gidget Goes Surfing

Our little "girl midget" took to boogie boarding after 2 1/2 weeks.  She became really brave and ventured out by herself.  (Sorry these pictures were taken as the sun was going down behind us)
I can't believe we didn't make her wear a life vest-- dumb parents!  Ken reminded me that she was wearing one but that it was rubbing her and that he was very near her when she was out in the water.  Plus she was between two sand bars in very shallow water.
Ginger had so much fun going boogie boarding.  I remember her siblings kept trying to go with her and she insisted on doing it on her own.

All wet and very proud of herself!
Who-hoo, she made it on top of a wave!

Heading out again.
Riding the surf.

She was having so much fun!
All sorts of people kept walking by and would stop and watch Ginger ride in.  It's kind of shocking to see this little girl boogie boarding on her own.  Really most of the kids who went out were twice her age.  The waves can be pretty rough and you have to be careful of riptides.  I'm pretty good at recognizing a riptide now.
Pure joy!
Hanging on!
Such a cutie!  This has been a remarkable year at the ocean for Ginger.
