The Great Outdoors

The weather has been so weird lately. We have had a number of freezing days mixed with beautiful, warm days. We have enjoyed the time we get to spend outside.

After we pick up Nathan from elementary school we usually head to the park when it is warm while we wait until it is time to pick up Darin from middle school.

Ken took the 11 year old Scouts and the Webelos on a Day Hike at a local park. It went very well. He set-up an orienteering course and he said that the boys are doing much better at orienteering then last time.
The highlight of their 5 mile hike was talking Ken into letting them play capture the flag on an enormous field for the last mile. Ken was really proud of the boys. He said they had a great attitude and the older ones really took care of the Webelos. The boys came home totally tired but so excited. I swear they told me about their 45 minute game of capture the flag for over an hour.
While Ken was doing his Scout thing I let the girls play at the playground in the park for about an hour. They had alot of fun.

We tried to feed the ducks at the lake but the ducks didn't want to have anything to do with us. That was kind of a bummer. It was also a bummer that Rose couldn't participate with the boys. She threw a huge fit when it was time for us to go. She wanted to stay with her Daddy so bad. She cried the whole way home about it. Although I can't blame her much. It was such a crazy weekend. Ken was on a business trip from Weds.-Fri. Actually he got home at 2 am on Saturday. Then on Saturday morning he left to do the Day Hike with the Scouts.
