Beautiful Sunday

We we're so very, very glad to say goodbye to October (let's just call it one of the worst months of our lives.) I had lots of happy hopes that November would bring in much happier moments. The first Sunday of the month did not disappoint. Ken and I slept in for the first time in forever. Actually it was more like we were able to sleep peacefully. Up until this night it wasn't quite as bad as having a newborn baby, but Ken and I were up lots throughout the night checking on Nathan. So imagine our surprise when we realized we had totally slept in, after sleeping through the entire night to find that all of our children were already up and playing a game so sweetly together. Seriously, such a wonderful blessing!

Actually, just them all playing a game together took my breath away. There is such a difference in ages and skill levels so it is really rare to see them involved in a game with the same level of interest and being so happy.
We went to church and it continued to be a beautiful Sunday. Even though Primary Program practices can be challenging it went smoother then the week before, I love the Spirit the children bring in, and it was really fun to play a trivia game with them.

Later that evening we played a few rounds of alphabet Bingo with the kids. Rose passed off all of her lower and uppercase letters this day. She had been working super hard for the past 3 weeks and was happy to be able to instantly recognize all the letters under pressure. The pressure is what Rose really has struggled with.

Ha! I just realized that it looks like we only ever wear PJ's. Which we do on Sundays, we get dressed for church but right after we change back into comfy clothes. We go to Lola and Papa's house for dinner in PJ's.Who-Hoo! Rose won the blackout round! She was so proud to read off all of the letters on her card. It's so nice to see her confidence blossom!
After games we started getting ready for the next week of school and remembered that Rose had to decorate her Turkey. So we broke out the paints and the girls and I had a little craft time in the office with the girls while Ken and the boys did some lego building in the dining room.
It just felt like a little House on the Prairie (via 2011) moment. Both of quietly working on projects with our children across the room from each other. Even with the gorgeous dog laying at our feet! That Phoebe may be like a rug most days but she is very pretty.
Rose decided to disguise her Turkey as a Gingerbread Man. It was so cute!
We were totally blissed out all day long. It was such a beautiful Sunday, Ken and I were just basking in all the good feelings of the day while the kids were getting ready for bed and we were preparing to say family prayer. Then it hit us; we totally forgot that our brand new church building was dedicated that day. We totally missed out on an amazing opportunity for our kids to be part of. Which kind of makes me sad, but at the same time it was really such a beautiful day I could never bring myself to say that we would have done anything different had we remembered.
