Pfestival of the Bands

Darin is in Honor Band this year, he plays the trombone. He really, really enjoys band, the teachers, and the friends he has in his class. They performed a the Pfestival of the Bands. It was really fun and all of the Middle School and High School Bands from our school district were there. The Middle School Bands sat up in the bleachers and each took turns playing 4 of their songs. I'm biased but I thought ours had the best songs!

This is the best picture I could get of Darin. The band is pretty big and we weren't allowed up in their section.
Let me tell ya, Texas Bands DO NOT mess around! The high school bands put on amazing field shows. With huge props and everything. Like no jok, those are mini organ pipes. They perform for a long time too, it's like watching a score to a movie because the music goes through all the emotional highs and lows for whatever their theme was with amazing choreography and movement all around the field. These are pictures from the High School our boys will feed into.

At the end of the night the University of Texas Band performed. You can imagine that UT is huge here being that they are our hometown university. But, seeing as how me and Ken are transplants and not into football you can bet that we cracked many, many jokes while they performed. We did this quietly of course since every one else around us seem to know all the finger plays, words to the songs, and were dancing around quite a bit.
They were good, but seriously white, tassle fringe looks pretty funny on college students:-)
