Moneybags

We finally took Rose and Ginger out on their shopping date. These girls had quite the bank roll of cash from money they received from Aunts and Uncles in Reno, Lola and Papa for Christmas, and from Grandma and Grandpa Tietjen. It was ridiculous and we probably should have made them save half of it. But they saw their brothers (well more like just Darin) spend all of his and they wanted to do the same thing.

Plus, we make them save half of what they earn already so this was a big deal for them to have actual money to spend.  They loved walking down every single aisle.  It took them over an hour to decide, the whole time I was thinking about how all of the frugal habits I have taught them over the years is precisely why it took them so long to choose what they wanted.  Finally Ken came (after running his own errand to Home Depot and elsewhere in Target) and he pushed the girls along.
Paying for their goods.  Ginger purchased a Barbie Scooter and digital camera/recorder (a real one, not a baby one:) and an SD card.  She also bought herself goggles (yep, I think she is definitely our girl) and something else but I forgot what it was.  Rose bought herself a princess alarm clock (which turned out to be a lovely present for her parents, she is now up at 6 am sharp and wakes us up half the time!).  She purchases a real camera and sd card, a movie, a play dough thingy, and a book.

Rose and Ginger were quite happy to spend their money.  Guess we can't call them Money Bags anymore!
