Friday, March 7th

After going to the Jelly Belly Factory, I took the kids to San Francisco. The boys couldn't believe how long the Bay Bridge is, they thought they could hold their breath but quickly realized they couldn't hold it the whole way since it is 4.5 miles long. I took the kids to Coit Tower. It was fun, but I didn't remember that you had to walk up two flights of a spiral staircase after the elevator ride. I got quite a few looks from Europeon tourists. A few offered to help Rose, that only made her scream and cling to my legs, which made it so much easier... Although the Europeon tourists were so much better then the American Lady and her teenage daughter who actually asked us very rudely if we could move out of the way when we were at the top. Apparantly the two steps it would have taken her to walk behind me to get to the next window was too much to ask, and I had to gather all the kids around and have us all take 4 steps back. Just to let you know the top of the Coit Tower is a complete open circle with a few pillars spaced around, but it is still wide open, and people just go and lookout from whatever window they want. Don't ask me why we had to move.

Anyway, another highlight of the day for the boys was using the self-cleaning motorized restrooms. We didn't take a picture, but they are pretty cool. They thought it was awesome.

After we ate lunch looking out over the city, Ginger and Rose were asleep so we drove around the city for awhile. We went up the extremely steep hills, drove down Lombard street "The Crookedest Street in the World". We also drove by the Marina, the Presido, the Palace of Fine Arts, and then the Ocean. The boys were very eager to tell Ken all about it after he got off work, "Mom was freaking out." (Going down the hills) "Mom ran a red light and almost got in an accident, except the man yelled and honked at her." (Can I help it if all of a sudden the street lights go from be high overhead, to off to the side like a pedestrian sign) "Mom started driving backwards, and then she pushed really hard on the gas and made us slam into the chair" (The hills are steep:-) Oh, and my favorite: "We weren't scared at all, except sometimes when mom drove crazy!"

It was a really good day!
