When the kids had Martin Luther King Day Off the next Monday we decided to squeeze in some fun family time. And we both wanted to take our kids to the temple. It was literally squeezing it in. I was gone most of the weekend with my Presidency. We had the temple trip on Friday, Saturday was Youth Basketball Games, and Sunday we had a Ward Conference 2 hours away. Sunday Evening Ken and I also really wanted to attend a Special Fireside given by our Stake President. Anyway, we didn't take off until 10:00 pm to drive to San Antonio. We got there at Midnight knowing that the next day we had to drop off Ken at the Austin airport at 5 pm the next day.
It was a short trip but lots and lots of fun! Sometimes it's just easier to focus on our family when we aren't home.
This little night owl was the only kid who stayed awake the whole trip.
These three sleepyheads crashed.
But of course, Darin is still an early bird.
And so is Rose. I love that Nathan was totally crashed as Rose jumped all over and under him.
This one was a sleepyhead too.
Time to go Swimming!
After Swimming we hit the Church Bookstore for some long overdue shopping.
Then we grabbed Subway and had a picnic on the temple grounds. Since it was Monday the Temple was clased so we had the grounds to ourselves.
The Best Comment of the day was when Darin said, "We should do this everyday!" I asked him, "What???". And Darin said, "Have a picnic at the Temple!"
This is a picture of us by one of the beautiful Stained Glass Windows. The San Antonio has gorgeous stained glass all throughout. It is colorful and pretty.
It was a short trip but so worth it. We love the memories we made this day!
