Christmas Tree 2008

The Saturday after Thanksgiving as per our tradition we picked out our Beloved Christmas tree. It's a real beauty.

This is the man talking to the boys about how this is the same Christmas Tree that they have had in the White House. They took that to mean that it was actually at the White House which meant we instantly had to purchase it.

We didn't get the White House tree but another one like it. We only had two trees to choose from that were as big as we wanted, so it wasn't a super hard choice. Nor did Ken have the opportunity to ask the guys working at the lot to open up 5 trees that just came off the truck. This was it in the greater Austin area. We know this because originally we had driven 30 minutes south to the lot that normally has the huge trees only to have them tell us to drive to the lot that is closet to us. An hour round trip in the car made Ginger pretty mad. But she was happy when she finally had the freedom to run around.

While Dad did the heavy lifting the kids ran around and played with leftover branches. We had the whole lot to ourselves since it was so late at night. It was pretty nice.

Notice all the hot cocoa cups in the pictures. We normally save the cocoa for after we choose the tree but on the way from Lot 1 to Lot 2, I broke out the hot chocolate. Traveling down the freeway I was able to pour the chocolate from the thermos, top it with whip cream, and cover it was a lid. That's gotta be better then Starbucks, right! Ken was even amazed when I whipped out the whip cream.

If only we could all look this cute in a puffy coat and jeans!

The boys turned leftover branches into a weapon and the trees into an obstacle course. And of course Rose thinks she is one of "the boys".

See it really does fit on the top of our car. Anytime someone sees our tree for the first time the first thing they ask is how big is it? 14.5 feet Tall. (the funny thing is that guesses have ranged from 10 feet to 20 feet tall) And how did we get it home?
