It was craziness! Ken took the kids to get haircuts in the little time before the play, I packed like crazy, and my parents even came over to help clean up my kitchen and family room. We still had so many little things to do before we left that we decided to scratch our original plan of driving the 2 1/2 hours to Houston Tuesday night and we would just drive it all in the morning.
We planned on leaving at 4:30 am but didn't make it out the door until 5am. We totally got stuck in rush hour traffic and ended up getting to the airport at 8:25 am, with out flight leaving at 9:00am. Needlessly to say, we missed our flight.
But, there was an angel of a lady working the ticket counter. We were standing there waiting forever listening to two ladies throw a fit over missing their flight and not being able to get in for another 2 or 3 days, and she walked by and asked us if our bags were ready to be checked. We explained how they were ready but we were going to need to re-book our flights since we missed our original tickets. She not only was able to get us on the very next non-stop flight but she didn't charge us a single fee for any of our tickets. Which was way awesome! I overheard from the witchy ladies next to us that they were being charged $150 to change their tickets and then the difference in airfare. It seriously pays to be nice and patient.
Honestly I think it was a blessing that we missed our flight. We were able to grab some breakfast and calm down. It was nice not being so rushed. And they were even able to group us in sets which was amazing since the flight was completely full.
Lola and Rose. Rose was so happy to get a DS for our traveling. She has long-admired her brother's DS but she never played on it. But Ken and I decided that she was the right age to get one now and bought her a couple of girlie games. She totally LOVED it!
They sure are cute together!
Our plane was pretty new. It had TV screen in every seat and they showed free shows and movies during boarding. That was nice to keep Ginger occupied without pulling out our traveling DVD player. But once the flight took off you had to pay $6 to keep watching. We decided it was worth it for Ginger and she loved it for at least half of the flight.
Rose, Darin, and Nathan sat about 5 rows in front of us. They loved their TV too, but as soon as they had to pay they switched to their DS.
The attendant told us like 3 times throughout our flight how well-behaved our children were, or what great manners they had. I loved that! (We didn't get any reports on how Lola and Papa did, they were sitting about 5 rows behind us, but I think they did good too:-)
It was totally worth all of the craziness of the past few weeks! This view can relax you pretty quick and we have been having such a fun time!
